Getting the fit right
Three measurements decide whether a banger fits your rig at all:
Joint size
14mm is the most common, 18mm on larger rigs. Measure the outer diameter of your rig's joint — a 14mm banger will not seat in an 18mm joint.
Male vs female
A male banger goes into a female joint, and vice versa. This is the single most common ordering mistake.
Joint angle
Usually 45° or 90°. Match the angle to your rig's neck or the banger will sit at the wrong attitude and spill.
Wall thickness
2mm walls heat fast and cool fast. 4mm holds heat far longer and is much more forgiving of timing — worth the extra cost.
Banger styles
Standard bucket
A plain flat-bottom bucket. Simple, cheap, easy to clean, and perfectly adequate for most dabbers.

What temperature should I heat a quartz banger to?
Low-temperature dabs run about 260–315°C (500–600°F) for flavour; high-temperature dabs run 315–400°C (600–750°F) for bigger vapor. Heat until it glows faintly, then let it cool 30–45 seconds for a 4mm banger, 15–25 seconds for a 2mm.
14mm or 18mm — how do I know which I need?
Measure the outer diameter of the joint on your rig. 14mm is by far the most common on modern rigs; 18mm appears on larger pieces. Also check whether your joint is male or female — the banger must be the opposite.
Why is my quartz banger turning cloudy?
Residue that was not cleaned while the banger was still warm. Swab with a cotton bud after each dab, and soak in isopropyl periodically. Once quartz has been chazzed by repeated overheating, the cloudiness is permanent.
Do I need a carb cap?
For low-temperature dabbing, yes. A carb cap restricts airflow over the bucket, lowering the pressure so the concentrate vaporizes at a lower temperature — that is where the flavour is. See our carb caps.
What is the difference between a banger and a nail?
In current usage they overlap, but a banger is the bucket-shaped quartz style that dominates today, while nail historically meant a flat titanium or ceramic post. Quartz bangers have largely replaced older nail designs for flavour reasons.
