How does an herb grinder work?

An herb grinder works by placing material between two toothed plates that you twist in opposite directions, shredding it into an even, fluffy consistency. Multi-chamber grinders then let the ground herb fall through holes into a collection chamber below for easy loading.

What is a kief catcher?

A kief catcher is the bottom chamber of a multi-piece grinder, separated by a fine mesh screen that collects the powdery trichomes that fall off during grinding. Over time this kief accumulates so you can scoop it out and use it later.

How many pieces should a grinder have?

A four-piece grinder is the most versatile choice, offering a grinding chamber, a screened compartment for ground herb, and a kief catcher at the bottom. Two-piece grinders are simpler and more compact. Smokerolla carries both styles with fast US shipping on every grinder.
